Department of Chemistry
Organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry, with instrumental analysis and quality-control training.
Nahda University for Science and Technology
Fundamental and applied sciences across chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and biotechnology, supporting the university's health and engineering programmes.
The Faculty of Science was founded in 2015 as the first faculty of the university.
The Faculty of Science was the founding faculty of, and opened together with, Nahda University for Science and Technology and remains the scientific base of the institution. It delivers the basic science components of the medical, pharmaceutical, veterinary and engineering programmes in addition to its own specialised degrees.
Study follows the credit-hour system. Students complete a common first-year foundation covering chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and scientific computing, then declare a major from the second year in accordance with the faculty's internal by-laws.
All laboratory courses are delivered in groups not exceeding twenty students, under a documented laboratory safety code approved by the University Council.
To prepare graduates with rigorous scientific knowledge, laboratory competence and research ethics, and to provide scientific services to the community and to national institutions.
To be a nationally recognised centre for basic and applied science education and research serving industry, health and the environment.
Organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry, with instrumental analysis and quality-control training.
Classical and modern physics, solid state, medical physics and renewable energy materials.
Cell biology, genetics, microbiology, parasitology and environmental biology.
Pure and applied mathematics, numerical analysis, probability and biostatistics service courses.
Molecular biology, genetic engineering, fermentation technology and bioinformatics.
Mineralogy, hydrogeology, environmental impact assessment and remote sensing.
The unit renewed its calibration certification, allowing it to continue providing contracted analytical services to external bodies.
The Faculty Council approved an updated bioinformatics course sequence effective from the autumn semester.
Placement lists for third-year students have been published on the departmental notice boards.
